Backlight is the situation of shooting I like best. The sunlight floods the entire frame and compels the photographer to face contrast, light, sharpening, and balancing of lights and shadows. Only lenses with irreproachable quality can grant good (and sometimes spectacular) results.

Exploring the Colorado Plateau, where the desert reveals itself cruelly: hot, sunny, silent, crazily colorful and stunningly fragrant. Sandstone, pines, junipers and the ubiquitous sagebrush create an incredibly palette inflamed by the sun.

Zone System

Can Zone System be applied to digital imaging? Sure, but it requires a long practice in black and white photography. Knowing how Zone System works is not enough: you need to know how the sensor works, how to extract the information you need from the digital negative, and how to create the very image that you had visualized before taking the picture.
